NVQs for Construction Supervisors (Gold CSCS Card)

These NVQs are designed for construction supervisors, foremen and gangers who lead teams on site and need a recognised qualification to prove their competence.

Our fast-track online NVQ assessment is built around your real work, using photos, short videos, site documents and Zoom-based professional discussions — with no written coursework and no exams.

These qualifications provide a straightforward route to the Gold (Supervisor) CSCS Card and are ideal for those looking to step up, gain recognition or strengthen their role within the construction industry.

Most candidates complete within 2–4 weeks, depending on experience and evidence availability.

Your assessment is based on your real work, not classroom learning. You’ll show evidence of what you do on site and have relaxed, discussions with your assessor over Zoom. There’s no written coursework, no exams, and no site visits. Most supervisors complete their NVQ within 4–8 weeks, depending on their experience and how quickly they upload their evidence.

When you click the “Book Your NVQ Now” button on any NVQ page, you’ll be taken to a short online profiling form so we can confirm the qualification matches your current job role. After you submit it, an assessor will give you a quick call to make sure the NVQ is achievable for you based on your experience and responsibilities.

If everything is suitable, we’ll send over an invoice. The profiling stage is completely non-committal — if you decide not to continue, you can simply ignore the invoice. If you do want to go ahead, you can make payment and start your NVQ the same day.

You’ll use evidence from your usual work activities as a supervisor, foreman or ganger. This might include things like:

  • a short site-tour video

  • a video of you giving a briefing or toolbox talk

  • photos of work you’re supervising

  • site diaries or allocation sheets

  • quality checks, snag lists or inspection notes

  • emails, messages or other records showing how you coordinate and supervise work

Your assessor will guide you on exactly what to collect and make sure it matches the NVQ requirements.

Most supervisors complete their NVQ within 2 to 8 weeks, depending on how quickly they can provide evidence and arrange their discussion-based assessments. Your assessor will guide you step by step and help you stay on track.

You will have up to 12 months to finish the qualification if you need more time, although most candidates complete much sooner.

Employers who are CITB-registered can claim a CITB Short Qualification Grant of £600 per employee once the NVQ is completed. The payment is made directly to the employer to help cover training costs.

CADUK is also an approved ELCAS training provider, which means serving and former members of the Armed Forces can use their Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) to fund one of our NVQs.

Yes. If you have passed the relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test and are registered on your NVQ, you can apply for the Red Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Manager (TSM) CSCS Card. This temporary card allows you to continue working on site while you complete your NVQ.

Once you finish the qualification, you can upgrade to the Gold CSCS Card.
