CADUK is a UK-based NVQ assessment centre specialising in competence-based qualifications for supervisors and managers working in construction and health and safety.
We deliver Level 3, Level 4, Level 6 and Level 7 NVQs that support progression to Gold and Black CSCS Cards, as well as professional memberships such as MCIOB (Chartered Institute of Building), CertIOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) and MICWCI (Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate).
Our qualifications are assessed through structured professional discussion and workplace evidence, allowing experienced professionals to achieve nationally recognised qualifications without attending college or completing written exams.
CADUK has been delivering construction NVQs since 2011, supporting experienced supervisors, managers and health and safety professionals across the UK construction industry.
CADUK is approved to deliver regulated NVQs through awarding organisations including Pearson, ProQual, NOCN and SQA (now Qualifications Scotland). Each qualification is registered with the awarding body best suited to that NVQ, and certificates are issued directly by them. This ensures your qualification is recognised nationwide by employers, CSCS and professional institutions.
Yes. CADUK is a member of the CITB Training Provider Network.
Being part of the CITB Training Provider Network means CADUK meets CITB’s required quality and compliance standards for delivering construction-related qualifications.
It also ensures we stay informed of changes to CITB funding and grant policies. However, grant eligibility and payment decisions are determined solely by CITB. Employers must confirm their own levy registration status and qualification eligibility directly with CITB.
CADUK and CADUK Skills Academy (CSA) are sister organisations. CADUK specialises in NVQs for construction supervisors, managers and health and safety professionals, while CSA focuses on NVQs for plant operations and lifting qualifications. Both organisations share the same commitment to quality, compliance and learner support.
CADUK is based at the University of Wolverhampton, Telford Campus. Our assessment and support services are delivered remotely through our secure ePortfolio system, allowing learners across the UK to complete their NVQ without attending college.
Candidates choose CADUK because:
We focus on making the NVQ process clear, efficient and fully aligned with industry standards.
Yes. CADUK delivers regulated NVQ qualifications through approved awarding bodies. These qualifications are recognised by employers and can support applications for relevant CSCS cards where the qualification matches the role and card route.
Yes. CADUK’s assessment model is based on real workplace evidence and structured professional discussion. There are no written exams and no classroom attendance. You may need to upload normal workplace documents, but you are not expected to complete academic essays.
An NVQ is a competence-based qualification that confirms you can carry out supervisory or managerial duties in your current role. You upload real workplace evidence to our secure ePortfolio system and complete a structured Professional Discussion with your assessor.
There are no written exams and no classroom attendance. The NVQ simply confirms the skills and responsibilities you are already demonstrating at work.
After enrolment, you are assigned an assessor and given access to your ePortfolio. You upload documents, photos, videos and other workplace evidence as you complete your normal duties.
Once sufficient evidence is in place, your assessor arranges a Professional Discussion via video call to explore your experience in more detail. This confirms your competence against the qualification standards.
When your evidence is uploaded, your assessor will arrange an online conversation. This is usually on Zoom or Teams.
The discussion is structured around the NVQ standards and allows you to explain how you carry out your responsibilities.
Most candidates find it relaxed and straightforward because it is based purely on their own experience.
You only need to provide examples from your actual job. Common evidence includes:
Documents showing planning, coordination or supervision
RAMS you have written or contributed to
Meeting notes, emails and site communication
Site diaries, handovers or daily records
Photographs of work areas or activities you manage or supervise
Project documents such as programmes, reports or resource plans
A Professional Discussion to cover anything not shown in the uploaded evidence
Nothing needs to be written from scratch. Your assessor will guide you on what is relevant.
The time needed depends on your role, evidence, availability and how quickly you respond to assessor feedback. Experienced candidates with strong evidence can often complete within a few weeks, while others may take longer. CADUK provides support for up to 12 months.
Yes. NVQs assess competence in work you are already carrying out. You must already be performing supervisory or managerial responsibilities before starting the qualification.
Fast-track does not mean reduced standards or cutting corners. It means the assessment is handled efficiently for experienced candidates who are already competent in their role and can provide suitable workplace evidence. The same NVQ standards still apply.
Yes. CADUK delivers NVQ assessment remotely through a secure ePortfolio system and online professional discussions. This means you can complete the qualification without attending college or travelling to an assessment centre.
Before enrolment, CADUK carries out a suitability check to review your job role, responsibilities, experience and available evidence. This helps confirm whether a Level 3, Level 4, Level 6 or Level 7 route is appropriate.
To apply for the Gold CSCS Supervisor Card, you must hold an appropriate Level 3 or Level 4 NVQ in Construction Supervision. CADUK offers recognised qualifications that meet these requirements.
To apply for the Black CSCS Manager Card, you must hold an appropriate Level 6 or Level 7 construction management NVQ.
Most candidates complete the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management or the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management, both of which meet the requirements for the Black CSCS Manager Card.
Senior and strategic construction professionals may complete the Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management, which also supports the Black CSCS Manager Card.
Gold CSCS Supervisor Card: CITB 'Specialist' Supervisory Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test.
Black CSCS Manager Card: CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment (MAP) test.
Your test result must be valid at the time of application.
CADUK will email you a secure PDF copy of your certificate, normally within one to two weeks of completion. We do not issue paper certificates.
You can use the PDF certificate to apply for your CSCS card immediately on the CSCS website, provided you have passed the appropriate CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test within the last two years.
No. CSCS applications must be submitted directly by the learner through the CSCS system. We provide guidance on the correct steps and required documentation.
Yes. Gold and Black CSCS cards are typically valid for five years. Renewal usually requires passing the relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test again, but you do not need to repeat your NVQ.
If you are not currently employed but have relevant experience, you may be able to apply for a Red Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Manager (TSM) CSCS card while completing your NVQ. This allows experienced professionals to return to site before upgrading to a full Gold or Black card.
The Black CSCS Card can only be applied for once you have achieved the correct Level 6 or Level 7 qualification and passed the CITB Managers and Professionals (MAP) test. Some experienced candidates complete the NVQ route quickly, but timescales depend on experience, evidence and engagement.
Experienced supervisors, managers or technical professionals may be able to apply for the Red Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Manager (TSM) CSCS card once officially registered on the correct NVQ. This card is temporary and is intended while you work towards the full Gold or Black CSCS card.
You can pay your NVQ fee in full or choose interest-free instalments through Klarna, subject to eligibility. We also accept direct company payments and can invoice employers where required.
Yes. We work with many employers and can invoice their accounts department directly if required.
For some qualifications, yes. If your employer is CITB registered, they may be eligible to claim the CITB Short Qualification Grant once an eligible NVQ has been completed.
The current Short Qualification Grant rate for eligible qualifications is £600, paid directly to the employer (not the individual learner).
Grant eligibility depends on the specific qualification and CITB funding rules in place at the time of achievement. Employers should always confirm their CITB registration status and qualification eligibility directly with CITB before enrolment.
Please note that the Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management is no longer eligible for new registrations under the CITB Short Qualification Grant scheme, although transitional arrangements apply to certain learners who started before 8 December 2025.
Yes. Eligible serving and former members of the Armed Forces may be able to use Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) to fund selected CADUK NVQs. Contact us for guidance on eligibility and the application process.
No. Your NVQ fee includes assessor support, access to the ePortfolio, guidance throughout the assessment process and certification. There are no hidden costs.
Yes. CADUK works with employers regularly and can invoice a company directly where required. Many employers fund NVQs because the qualification supports workforce competence, CSCS card routes and professional development.
A Level 6 NVQ in Construction Management can support an application to the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) through the Full Professional Review. A Level 7 NVQ may support the Shortened Professional Review, depending on experience. CIOB determines final membership decisions and applicants should confirm current criteria directly with CIOB.
Level 6 and Level 7 Health and Safety NVQs can support applications for Cert IOSH membership. IOSH determines membership eligibility and candidates should confirm current requirements directly with IOSH.
The Level 6 NVQ in Construction Site Inspection can support applications to the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI). Applicants should confirm current membership requirements directly with ICWCI.
Professional memberships such as MCIOB, Cert IOSH and MICWCI demonstrate recognised competence and commitment to professional standards. Many employers value these memberships when recruiting for supervisory and management roles.
Yes, where your role, evidence and assessment discussions can demonstrate competence against the qualification standards. CADUK’s remote assessment model can support experienced candidates working overseas, provided the work is relevant to the NVQ being assessed.
The qualification must be assessed against the relevant UK NVQ standards. Overseas experience may be considered where it is comparable, current and supported by suitable workplace evidence. CADUK will review this during the suitability check before enrolment.
A CSCS card application is made directly to CSCS after the correct qualification has been achieved and the relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment test has been passed. Candidates should check current CSCS requirements before applying, especially if they are based outside the UK.
Professional discussions are completed online, usually by video call. Times can be arranged around UK and international time zones where practical.
Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and Total Qualification Time (TQT) describe the size of a regulated qualification. They are used by awarding bodies and regulators to explain how much learning and assessment activity a qualification represents.
No. NVQs assess occupational competence. Experienced candidates may already have developed the required knowledge, skills and understanding through their work. Assessment then confirms competence through real workplace evidence and professional discussion.
Recognition of Prior Learning means that relevant previous experience, learning and workplace activity can be considered when assessing competence. Evidence must still be valid, authentic, current, reliable and sufficient for the qualification standards.
No. A quicker completion is only appropriate where the candidate already has the required experience and can provide suitable evidence. The same assessment criteria, quality assurance checks and awarding body requirements still apply.
