This Level 4 NVQ in Construction Site Supervision is for experienced site supervisors and assistant site managers working in construction.
It is designed for people who already supervise work on site and have wider responsibility for planning work, coordinating labour and subcontractors, maintaining health and safety, monitoring quality and progress, and helping keep the job running properly.
This usually means people who are working across more than one trade or work area, dealing with site paperwork, drawings, programmes, RAMS, briefings, quality checks and day-to-day coordination on site.
This is a recognised, work-based qualification that supports the Gold CSCS Supervisor Card. The assessment is based on the work you already do, using your normal job evidence and simple one-to-one discussions with your assessor on Zoom.
Fully remote assessment with no written work, no classrooms and no time off site. Most experienced candidates complete in 4 to 8 weeks, with up to 12 months if needed. Eligible CITB-registered employers can claim the £600 CITB grant after completion.
This qualification is usually suitable for people who:
It can also suit people who are stepping up from a more hands-on supervisory role and now have broader responsibility for site coordination, planning, communication and control of day-to-day operations.
It is usually a better fit than Level 3 for people with broader site-wide supervision responsibilities.

This qualification proves your competence in the day-to-day job of a site supervisor or assistant site manager on a real construction site. It covers the practical side of supervision, from planning the work through to making sure it is carried out safely, on time and to the right standard.
Most of what you will be assessed on is the work you already do every day. That includes organising labour and materials, coordinating subcontractors, monitoring progress, checking quality, following site procedures, and making sure health and safety is properly managed on site. The NVQ simply turns the practical experience you already have into a recognised qualification.
Key topics covered by the NVQ include:
Everything you submit comes straight from your normal day-to-day work on site. There are no written assignments, no exams and no theory tests.
Most experienced supervisors already have much of the evidence they need in their normal paperwork, site records and day-to-day responsibilities. Your assessor will help you identify the best evidence from the work you already do, so you are not wasting time uploading unnecessary bits.
Typical evidence for the Level 4 NVQ can include:
A few of the basics candidates usually ask before applying.
Most experienced site supervisors and assistant site managers complete it in 4–8 weeks. The fastest candidates finish in under 4 weeks if they already have strong site evidence. You work at your own pace, with up to 12 months to complete if needed.

Level 4 is more suited to site supervisors, multi-trade supervisors and assistant site managers with broader responsibility for planning work, coordinating people and subcontractors, and monitoring site standards.
